introduced their cancer research screensaver using the principle of utilization of leftover computer power. When users' computers are not being used the United Devices Cancer Research screensaver program turns on and allows processes to use your machine for processing power.

The program, which can also be set to run continually, employs "virtual screening" to find potential interactions between molecules and target proteins, for example, a drug. These molecules or ligands are sent to the host computer's UD Agent. When these molecules dock successfully with a target protein this interaction is scored for further investigation.

Along with the cancer research project, the United Devices Research group has also completed projects related to human proteme folding, anthrax and smallpox projects. The smallpox project was used to explore biological terrorism

The Anthrax Project was a portion of the United Device's Patriot Grid which was an initiative intended to battle biological terrorism as well. This project utilized the 'LigandFit' software used in the cancer research projects but with a modified set of molecules to be targeted. This was all done as simulation of the advanced stages of an anthrax outbreak.
